Start with basic colours for shirts, black and white (incidentally, these are the 2 primary colours in the SaintVida collection). Both colours go well with blue denim jeans and beige or khaki-coloured cargo shorts. The crucial factor is wearing the correct colour to suit your skin tone. The rule of the thumb is to wear colours that contrast your skin colour. Dark-skinned men should wear lighter colours while light-skinned men should wear darker and bolder colours.
One cannot stress enough the importance of having a well-fitting, basic blue denim jeans. Avoid buying those with weird texture or outrageous colours; you will have difficulty matching your clothes after that. If you can afford, buy a good pair of Levis jeans. They may cost more but you are paying for quality workmanship and trusted styles. They are known for their famous jeans and with numerous styles and cuttings to choose from, we don't see how you can go wrong there. There are several key points to note in buying a pair of jeans. First, never buy a jeans after having a full meal (for obvious reasons!) . Second, avoid buying slim-cut or boot-cut jeans; the former looks better on girls and the latter are for cowboys. Third, if the jeans are too long, please, have them altered to fit you. Don't fold them outwards just to save some money, it's not worth it. Finally, some may disagree with this, but jeans should not be washed too often, the colours may fade and it will wear out faster.
It solely depends on the individual's preference and his age. For teenagers or young adults below 28 years old, let out your youthfulness by leaving your polos or any T-shirts hanging. Older adults may choose to have a more clean and mature appearance by tucking in their shirts. We also advise those who wish to tuck in to wear a belt, even if you don't need to. It helps to complement the overall look.
Size vs comfort. Men generally are more casual and nonchalant about their dressing, opting for comfort more than style. With regards to this over-size issue, there is a need to clear some misconceptions. You choose the size to fit you; you choose the type of cutting that you prefer. In other words, the size charts are there to match your body measurements. If you like to wear loose-fitting clothing, avoid clothes that are cut for a tight-fitting look. If you want your clothes to fit you to a snug, choosing the correct size and the right cutting is important. As we say this, there is a gentle reminder that tight-fitting shirts are for well-built, athletic bodies. If you have a slight paunch, please choose something that doesn't exemplify it.
Many will agree that a nice pair of shoes completes a man's overall dressing. The first thing that many women look at when they judge your overall dressing is the type of shoes you wear. Here's some tips on choosing the types of footwear to go with your outfit. When wearing jeans, a nice casual walking shoes from Gola, Adidas or Nike will work splendidly. Avoid wearing the same sports shoes that you use for running with your jeans; they not only match terribly but also reflects that you are a person who can't be bothered with changing to a better pair of shoes. If you wear blue denim jeans, opt for light brown or white for your shoe colours as they match nicely. Also, avoid wearing white socks with jeans (although its perfectly okay); instead buy a pair of socks that match the colour of your jeans.
If you are wearing bermudas, a pair of slippers or casual flip-flops can look great as well. However, please avoid buying those 3 for $10 white and blue types that are not only flimsy but make you look like an uncle! If you wish to wear shoes with your shorts, we suggest investing in a pair of ankle or hidden socks. They are better than your usual tennis white socks that are high and out-of-place with your walking shoes. Finally, the most basic tip when it comes to dressing that one must always remember: match the colour of your shoes with the colour of your belt.
There are several aspects of wearing polo tees that you may want to take note of. First, it is whether to button one, both or none of the front 2 buttons. Ideally, button one when you are at a semi-formal occasion and none when you are hanging out in town. Generally, people avoid buttoning both as it may be rather uncomfortable around the neck area. That being said, if you need to button both, make sure you get a polo that is not too small around the collar.
Second, is it cool to have the collars face up (ala Cantona) or resting down as per normal? Well, if you are the type who likes to stand out from the crowd, go ahead and try the former; but be fore-warned: some people may think that you are just trying to look cool instead of being cool. Otherwise, keeping the collar as it is will look smart on anyone.
Last, the question of whether to wear a round neck tee beneath your polos. It may look good, especially if you wear a white round neck beneath a black polo, but in reality, unless you live in the temperate regions like Japan or USA, having 2 layers of clothing in Singapore is simply crazy!
