Star Wars Expanded Universe Action Figures
The Kenner Corporation first
attempted to introduce a small line of character from Star Wars not
directly related to the films and based on the cartoon series of the
Droids and Ewoks . Two crossover characters remained popular: A-Wing
Pilot and Boba Fett the Bounty Hunter. Hasbro did the same in 1996 with
the Shadows of the Empire action figure line whch was part of a
multimedia project which included a novel, Nintendo 64/PC Game and
Comic Books by Dark Horse Comics.
1998 marked Hasbro's
return to the Expanded Universe of novels, games and comics which mixed
both characters that were well known and characters from other media.
Hasbro switched the packaging from Freeze Frame Action Slides tocards
which could pop out to open three dimensional scenes where one
could place the characters. The backs had small slits for this very
creative idea.

As a result, he was sent to the Unknown Regions. Upon returning, he discovered that the Empire was fragmented and he reunited the Empire.
Thrawn had a goal which was to reclaim Coruscant as an Imperial stronghold. He nearly reached his goal but was killed by a Noghri bodyguard. Thrawn always had a Ysalamiri creature which was gently perched on him wrapped around his neck which could render the "Force" useless.
