Star Wars Vintage Special Aluminum Collectors Coins
Two years after the Return of the Jedi, Kenner introduced the Power of the Force action figure line. Each action figure was sold with an aluminum collectors coin designed to rekindle interest in the toys. Nearly half of the 62 coins could only be obtained through mailaway offers on select Star Wars carded action figures. The offers for the Coins were printed on decals approximately two x four inches which stated:

Whole sets were sold for $29.00 by Kenner for savvy customers who wrote in. These collectors figured out early that cutting proof-of-purchases from the cards did not guarantee the coins that would be mailed out to them. Coins were randomly selected and mailed out. One could not specifically ask for a certain coin.
All it took was the ingenuity of one to simply ask Kenner for the whole set by mailing in and checking. The company never announced this information publicly though. These action figure are well known as the "last 17" of the series that was sold during the end of the vintage line of Star Wars figures. Public interest started to dwindle.
