From 1944 to 1946, just as World War 2 was winding down, cartridge cases (the case of a gun bullet after being shot) were salvaged to make Lincoln cents. There is virtually no difference in the appearance of these pennies except for the color, which was slightly different on uncirculated coins.

The monetary value of these particular wheat cents are among the lowest in the series, but can seem historically more valuable knowing you are holding a direct link to World War 2!

To me, physically holding one of these pennies brings on a mystic feeling knowing that it's past caused bloodshed or even death to some soldier.
